The inspiration to provide a service that provides information that can “Network” Survivors and their families
was born in St. Louis, Missouri at the 2014 PHI International Conference.
The founding ‘team’ of www.papolionetwork.org is grateful to Post-Polio Health International for hosting the conference and giving survivors and care professionals the opportunity to meet and network with each other.
In addition to former Executive Director Joan Headley and current Director Brian Tiburzi at PHI
(and members of their Board - Dr. William DeMayo, MD and Dr. Daniel Wilson, PhD),
we give special thanks for their assistance in this project to:
Richard Bruno, HD, PhD and the International Centre for Polio Education
and
The amazing Polio Survivor Networks of:
Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas and the United Kingdom
And
To the daughter of a Pennsylvania survivor for her generosity and patience to support and teach the
‘technical’ aspects of this project.
And special thanks to -
To one lovely Pennsylvania survivor; for sharing her story about pigtails and a monkey named Corky.
